Last year we went to Tilden Park Merry Go Round around the holidays and saw lots of dogs on leashes. There was even a couple of Jack Russel Terriers riding reindeers. They were adorable!
The Tilden Park merry go round was built in New York in 1911, and made its way to Berkeley, CA in 1948. It also did duty in San Bernadino County, San Diego, and Griffith Park in LA, before finding its permanent home in Berkeley. It was built by the Herschell-Spillman Company of North Tonawanda, New York for Ross Davis. It has earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
