Merry Christmas Doggy!

Merry Christmas!

Chasing a holiday bone (shaped like a candy cane), while wearing a wreath-collar:

Doggy's favorite holiday book, The Gift of Nothing, by Patrick McDonnell

Our doggy's favorite holiday book this season is The Gift of Nothing, by Patrick McDonnell.  It features a dog and a cat who are friends, and is written by Patrick McDonnell who is the creator of the award-winning comic strip Mutts.  He lives in New Jersey with his wife, Karen, and their dog, Earl and their cat, MeeMow. Patrick's website is www.muttscomics.com.

As People magazine described the book, it is "A sweet tale with a Zen message.

This is a sweet book!  It's about a special day where Mooch wants to give his best friend, Earl, a gift. But what do you get someone who has everything?  The book tells how Mooch searches high and low for...the gift of nothing!

Tilden Park Merry Go Round, Winter Fantasy, dog friendly- carousel, twinkling lights, holiday music

Last year we went to Tilden Park Merry Go Round around the holidays and saw lots of dogs on leashes.  There was even a couple of Jack Russel Terriers riding reindeers.  They were adorable!

The Tilden Park merry go round was built in New York in 1911, and made its way to Berkeley, CA in 1948.  It also did duty in San Bernadino County, San Diego, and Griffith Park in LA, before finding its permanent home in Berkeley.  It was built by the Herschell-Spillman Company of North Tonawanda, New York for Ross Davis.  It has earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
