Doggy going to Pumpkin Patch - his favorite this year! - Cool Patch Pumpkins

Cool Patch Pumpkins, along Highway 80 near Davis, is very dog friendly. He was even welcome on the hayride!  The place is Mo heaven with tons of yummy snacks and other smells to sniff, hay to roll around in, humans to give him attention, and plenty of places to play chase with his humans!  We humans love this place too, it is the best pumpkin patch we've ever been to.

Why?
-The people who work here are really friendly and accommodating.
-Tractor rides
-Pumpkins really grow here, and can be seen on the vine -- great selection.
-Vats of corn for playing in.
-4-wheeled car-like bikes to ride on a dirt track through a cornfield
-All kinds of forts for children and dogs to run in and out of

Pampered Pet Shopping in Sacramento, California

Below are a few places I want to check in the Sacramento area.  As a word of caution, I haven't been to any of them.  Plus, they are very expensive.  I love looking at extravagant pet supplies, though, even though I prefer my doggy supplies to be more simple and less extravagant MOST of the time.

1.  Karma Collars
This pet accessories place looks like a gallery.  They carry a wide assortment of artisan leather goods for dogs and dog owners.  The goods are handmade in the store.  The high-end, highly durable collars ($35.-$150) and leashes ($38.-$70.) feature brass studs, Swarovski crystals and custom nameplates

2.  Paws And The Palette
The owner, Lisa Spurney, makes most of this store bakery's vegan dog treats: cookies, cupcakes, and cakes that supposedly look so good, even humans will want a taste.  I haven't been to this place yet, so I'm not so sure about that claim!

This shop is involved in lots of local charities, including Pets of the Homeless and Front Street Animal Shelter.

The shop dog is named Ladybug, a 13 year old Basset Hound.

This shop has Bow Wow Bind (wearable crystals for dogs,) necktie collars, Bowser Beer, and even bathrobes.

Bonus:  Bring in a bath of dogwood, and get a $10.00 bag of dog treats for your donation.

Easy Walk Harness for dogs

I have my dog use a  easy walk harness.  I like it because when he pulls it does not strangle him.

These are the advantages:

Easy to fit
Easy to use
Stops leash pulling quickly and comfortably
Doesn't choke

Mo's Favorite Dog Food (That isn't homemade or food from a restaurant)

Mo loves human food, but it doesn't agree with him.  He gets tummy trouble from sneaking mac and cheese from Billy or eating well seasoned chicken from takeout.  He loves Nature's Fresh brand, chicken recipe with carrots and spinach.  We keep it in the refrigerator, and it is soft.  He loves it!

Doggy on the Bed at the Narrow Gage Inn

Here is our dog at the Narrow Gauge Inn.  He loved going out for a late night walk to smell all the wild things!  This place is adjacent to the Sugar Pine Railroad, which is also dog friendly.

Recommended Parks for walking and hanging out with your dog in Oakland, CA

Dimond Park is tucked between Fruitvale Avenue and Park Blvd. in Oakland, CA.  On hot days, the Sausal Creek Trail is great for dogs to splash around in.  There are some beautiful areas of this park for both dogs and children.

Doggy at the Native American Festival

Last weekend Mo went to the Ohlone Festival at the Coyote Hills Regional Park in Hayward, CA. There was a shuttle taking people from the parking lot to the festival.  Mo loved the other pooches, though because of the California draught there wasn't very much green, it was mostly yellow plants and grass.  Please rain in California!

Below is Mo on the free shuttle that took us from the parking lot to the Ohlone festival at the Coyote HIlls park.

doggy in the bath

After my son takes a bath and gets out, I put my dog in.  This saves water!   Mo seems to  actually enjoys it, especially when he is getting gently scrubbed and gets the extra attention.  I use California Baby kids bubble bath and I've never seen an allergic reaction with him.
